RES HR Appointment Processing Times
Staff Appointments
- Campus HR reviews the job description and establishes the job title. The position is listed (usually for two weeks) on the UC web job listing ("e-recruit").
- The appointment request material should be provided to RES Human Resources eight weeks prior to the proposed start date to allow ample time for approval, posting, recruitment, selection, and salary review.
Student Assistant/Workstudy Appointments
- The appointment request material should be provided to Human Resources two weeks prior to the start of the appointment.
Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) Appointments
- RES HR verifies availability of funding and academic department base salary.
- The appointment request material should be provided to RES Human Resources two weeks prior to the start of the semester.
Academic Appointments (Postdoctoral Scholar, Specialist and Researcher)
- Academic appointments must be approved by the Vice Chancellor for Research before the Scholar can begin working.
- The appointment request material should be provided to RES Human Resources eight weeks prior to the proposed start date to allow ample time for approval.
- International Scholars requiring visas should contact RES HR as early as possible. Visa processing requires a minimum of three months and up to six months, depending on the visa type.
Visiting Scholar and Visiting Student Researcher Appointments
- Visiting Scholar and Visiting Student Researcher appointments must be documented and approved by the Visiting Scholar and Postdoc Affairs Office (VSPA) prior to the visitor's arrival.
- The appointment request material should be provided to RES HR eight weeks prior to the proposed start date to allow ample time for approval.
- International Scholars requiring visas should contact RES HR as early as possible. Visa processing requires a minimum of three months and up to six months, depending on the visa type.
- These Visiting titles are subject to an annual $200 University Services fee.
